Mike Rosland, Director of Transportation/Dispatch for Summit, led a team of 9 volunteers in Statoil’s clean up Williston campaign, on Saturday, May 5. Working along Highway 85, outside Summit’s Shop, the crew spent several hours picking up trash and debris. The modular frac tank crew, led by Travis Gibson, made a strong showing enlisting his entire crew for the effort. Thank you gentlemen for all of your hard work!

Read MoreWhen Bruce Baxter drove across the North Dakota state line in a truck with a buddy from Alabama- he never thought he would go back to running equipment.
He was simply stopping at a location per the requirements of his job at the time.
But after the driving job fell through, Bruce, along with his buddy Jimmy Royster, saw a Summit ad in the paper, applied for a position and he’s been there ever since.
That was in September of 2011.
Now Bruce serves as an Operator/Lead Man for a crew of four men that build containment berms for oil sites.
Originally from Florida, Bruce grew up in heavy equipment – his dad was a Dozer Operator.
He didn’t get directly into that field however, as he joined the Army upon graduation from high school in 1980.
“I figured the Army would be the best way to stay on the straight and arrow,” Baxter said. “It set me out on my own and helped me grow.”
After leaving the Army in 1986, Bruce spent 10 years with the police department in Tulsa as the Senior Animal Cruelty Investigator.
“Riding bulls in high school and in the Army, along with roping in Oklahoma, made it an easy transition working with animals,” he added.
Now at Summit, he is able to finally bridge working for a great employer with running equipment.
“I’ve been with a few companies that were as professional as Summit – with one major difference. At Summit you have quality employees running quality equipment – that makes a big difference.”
Baxter added, “My bosses [John Fetzer and Dewey Young] are great. They understand that things don’t always go as planned and they support you to the extreme in order to help you get the job done. As long as you make sound decisions and are productive – they don’t care how you get from A to Z – you get great support from both of them.
The only tough thing about the situation is that Bruce’s wife of 17 years is still located in Oklahoma. Luckily he has his son, Frank, and son-in-law, Matthew, living in Williston with him.
When Bruce gets away from the daily grind he enjoys deer hunting and following NASCAR.
